NewsUP Carillon Restoration Project taps PayEasy for online donation The University of the Philippines aims to restore the emblem of its glorious legacy, the U.P. Carillon, in its Diliman Campus. The U.P. Alumni Association (UPAA) officially launched the U.P. Carillon Restoration Project last June 2005 during its 92nd Alumni Homecoming. It is a big undertaking that entails a huge amount of money and effort on the part of the U.P. Alumni members and supporters in the academe. Having faith in its resources, no less than the U.P. Alumni members, Mr. Bani Aguirre of the U.P. Carillon Restoration Project Team is confident that this project will meet its target to bring back the "Bells of Diliman" for the University's 2008 Centennial Celebration. But this optimism needed a more vital element, the medium through which the solicitation efforts will be facilitated and thus, the realization of putting-up a website for the project. “When the UPAA thought of coming up with a website on the need to restore and mobilize resources for the restoration of the UP Carillon tower, a long and careful study was made on the various ways of doing it. For a project of this nature, it was important to find a reputable partner, with long internet experience and with the capacity to provide a service that would allow credit card and other electronic payments to be made on-line, on secure basis,” narrates Mr. Aguirre. Now, the project has its own website, www.upcarillon.org. It has a technical backbone to facilitate its online donation through the PayEasy Online Payment System developed by Mozcom. “After a search on the web and consultations with people in the know, it was obvious that Mozcom is the best and only choice. Not only is the company the pioneer commercial internet service provider (ISP) in the Philippines and its scope of internet services and coverage area are the largest, but it has also built a solid reputation as a reliable, professional and forward-looking organization. Very importantly, it provides a new service – the payments gateway – that would enable payments and credit card transactions to be made on-line,” explains Mr. Aguirre. With this venture, the UPAA Carillon Restoration Project has its own website that accepts payments and donations on-line from anywhere in the country and from anywhere in the world. And through the impressive teamwork and strong drive of the UPAA, there is no doubt that our prestigious State University will soon be ringing its bells.
