NewsPayEasy Announces Redundant Online Payment Processing Facility Feb 16, 2007 — One year after it won the Best E-Business Product award from the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) of the DTI in last year's E-Services Philippines tradeshow, Mozcom's PayEasy Online Payment System continues to innovate and expand its capability. In this year's E-Services 2007 held at Shangri-la EDSA on Feb 15 and 16, Mozcom announces the activation of its second international card payment processing gateway. "Even the best systems in the world cannot guarantee a 100% uptime. We learned this the hard way this past year when during a peak campaign we were running, our upstream card processor had a scheduled maintenance downtime," said Robertson Chiang, Mozcom’s COO/CTO. "We had to ask customers to re-try their transactions at a latter time." But now with a secondary upstream payment processor, PayEasy's card processing capability is more robust and immune to system outages, scheduled or otherwise. The redundant facility does not only kick in during downtimes. It is also actively running during the course of regular day-to-day transactions. If a transaction fails in getting an authorization from one credit card processor, PayEasy now automatically switches over to the other processor and tries to clear the same transaction. Chiang explained, "sometimes a perfectly good credit card is declined by a processor for unclear reasons. Perhaps their link to the cardholder's bank had problems at that point in time. With our automatic switch-over facility, the same card will be re-tried with our other processor without requiring the end-user to re-enter the transaction. This gives our merchants a higher likelihood of closing a sale instead of the customer going away." Mozcom is the Philippines’ first commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP). It has been operating IP-based networks since 1994. "We are bringing our experience in managing data networks to e-commerce. As a large independent ISP, we maintain multiple redundant links with different telcos and upstream ISP’s to ensure high availability. We are just applying the same philosophy and techniques now to our e-commerce strategy," added Chiang. Mozcom PayEasy is the most comprehensive online payment system in the country today supporting all major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diners Club), BancNet and MegaLink ATM cards, PayPal, Globe G-Cash, Smart Money, UCPB my1Time, and Western Union.
